This program is offered via video conference at partner district sites throughout Arizona. It is designed for practicing teachers who desire the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective leaders in PreK-12 schools. To obtain the Arizona principal certificate, candidates must show verification of three years' full-time teaching experience.

The Urban and Rural Bridge for Action Network – Excellence and Collaboration in Educational Leadership (abbreviated EXCEL) Project provides a high-quality, rigorous, and intensive principal certification program built on the needs of the partner districts, national leadership standards, recognized principal preparation programs, and recommendations from exemplary principals. It represents a new and higher standard of rigor in the preparation of Arizona principals with a full-year internship including supportive coaching.

Candidates must be currently employed in one of the partner districts, and nominated by the administration. Before applying to the ASU Graduate College, candidates will go through an EXCEL application and interview process.

Applications for the EXCEL program are currently closed. Admissions for the next cohort will reopen in January of 2011.
