Secondary Education - Fine Arts
Fine Arts programs in Secondary Education prepare students to teach art, dance, or music in grades 7-12. In addition to education methods courses, students complete coursework offered through the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. These programs equip students with the in-depth knowledge and teaching strategies necessary to serve the educational needs and challenges of students at the secondary level.
In consultation with arts education advisors at the Herberger Institute, students fulfill requirements for either the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) or Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) degree program. Students also must meet the admission criteria of the Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.E.) degree offered through the College of Teacher Education & Leadership.
Auditions and/or interviews are required for admission into dance and music degree programs.
Additional information on these joint programs is available on the eAdvisor Academic Program Search site.
