The ASPIRE (Arizona Special Initiative to Recruit and Retain Educators) Special Education M.Ed. program leads to dual Arizona certification in K-12 special education and 1-8 elementary education. Coursework for the required Structured English Immersion endorsement is included.

This is a 16-month, full-time cohort program with coursework two evening per week. Classes are offered via video conferencing at partner districts throughout the state: Avondale, Chinle, Douglas, Gadsden, Indian Oasis-Baboquivari, Madison, Osborn. Field experience for this program is employment within a school district.

Qualifications for Admission

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Acceptance into the ASU Graduate College
  • Fingerprint clearance card issued by the State of Arizona

Because this program is an alternative licensure program tied to employment, admission into the ASPIRE Program is a joint decision of the partner school districts and Arizona State University.
