Diversity in Language and Learning - Bilingual B.A.E. Elementary (grades 1-8)

The Diversity in Language and Learning - Bilingual program prepares individuals to teach in a bilingual or English as a Second Language elementary school environment. Applicants are required to demonstrate Spanish proficiency at Intermediate Spanish II level prior to Block 3.

Diversity in Language and Learning - ESL B.A.E. Elementary (grades 1-8)

The Diversity in Language and Learning - ESL program prepares individuals to teach in an English as a Second Language elementary school environment. Applicants should possess a desire to work with children who are acquiring English skills.

Early Childhood Education B.A.E. Early Childhood (birth - grade 3)

The Early Childhood Education program prepares students for careers working with infants and children in grades K-3. Students gain an understanding of the educational needs and challenges facing early learners.

Elementary Education B.A.E. Elementary (grades 1-8)

The Elementary Education program prepares students to design and implement instructional programs for children in grades 1-8. The program leads to eligibility for teaching certification within the state of Arizona.

Elementary Education - Initial Teacher Certification M.Ed. Elementary (grades 1-8)

The accelerated Elementary Education Master's with Arizona Certification (MAC) programs lead to certification in grades 1-8. Programs are offered in the Deer Valley school district and at the Tempe campus. Another Elementary Education program is offered in Osborn school district.

Secondary Education B.A.E. Secondary (grades 7-12)

Professional programs in Secondary Education prepare students to teach a variety of subjects in grades 7-12. In addition to education methods courses, students must complete 44 to 48 hours in a chosen subject area. These programs equip students with the in-depth knowledge and teaching strategies necessary to serve the educational needs and challenges of students at the secondary level.

Fine Arts programs in Secondary Education prepare students to teach art, dance, or music in grades 7-12. In addition to education methods courses, students complete coursework offered through the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. These programs equip students with the in-depth knowledge and teaching strategies necessary to serve the educational needs and challenges of students at the secondary level.

The TEAMS (Teacher Education for Arizona Mathematics & Science) program is designed for those interested in teaching middle or high school mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, earth & space science, or general middle school science.

Special Education with Dual Certification in Elementary Education B.A.E.
Cross-Categorical Special Education (grades K-12)
Elementary (grades 1-8)

This program prepares undergraduate students for careers working with students in grades K-12 who have learning disabilities, mild mental retardation, or emotional/behavioral disorders. Students in the Special Education program gain an in-depth understanding of the various disabilities and learn strategies and techniques to support and teach individuals with special needs.

The Special Education Master's with Arizona Certification (MAC) program leads to an Arizona K-12 special education certification and an Arizona 1-8 elementary certification. Coursework for the required Structured English Immersion endorsement is included.
